Honestly I was really surprised to see the same monks after the second match. EviL truly did not deserve to win.

Basically iQ used an E/mo with Meteor shower and glyph of sacrifice with some other AoE skills to destroy the NPCs at the stand.

iQ completely out thought EvIL. iQ used their VoD strat in the second match and EvIL's monks without real e-management weren't going to out heal iQs monks (especially when they have a smiter) in a VoD situation and they saw what sort of damage iQ could bring to the fray. So, you would think they might alter their build slightly, but by not doing so they fell for iQs plan completely and lost. Also, I think with constant moral boosts EvIL could have made more of an effort to DP out Saurus (or push in more aggressively) who they managed to kill, if they had got him to 60dp then the stand situation may have swung as it was extremely tight at VoD and having severely weakened characters on iQs side would have lost it.

iQ won. It is that simple. Whatever they did within the rules of the game to get there is beside the point. In ladder play you try to avoid playing gimmicks or "abusing cheap tactics" if you wish to put it that way, as they make you less strong and flexible as a player. In tournament play you do anything it takes.

Any further flaming or bashing of iQ will result in a thread lock. I will let this continue along the course of discussing the matches for now.

Or you could just go into observer mode, and watch it.

Don't want to see this kinda boring matches? Don't limit morale at 10% in gvg. Problem Solved.

Congrats iQ

Prepare for a long boring final(especially if wm is involved)...

This is Tommy here. I kind of had to edit this post, so sorry Ille, but I still <3 you. However, what Ille was trying to say was that lacking skill or playing "unfair" does not matter on a scale this large where the prize is a world championship and thousands of dollars in prize money. This isn't for honor, it's for CASH.

Well IQ won their second match against EvIL by turtling then facing off at the stand at 35 minutes, with more death penalty. Personally I thought it was smart of them to run the same build and play for VOD again, probably knowing that no serious changes would be made to EvIL's build (they took out their R/A from the seocnd match and added a E-denial Me/Mo with Martyr).

Sure the real action didn't start until 30 minutes, but ti wasn't like the match hit the 30 minute mark then iQ automatically won...there was still 11 minutes of fighting. It just so happened that iQ realized that without energy managment EvIL's monks could really only heal the constant beating their Guildlord was taking for so long.

I guess you could argue iQ played cheaply but 4 copies of Dark Escape and 2 copies of Distortion isn't exactly my idea non-gimmicky either. It really doesn't matter though, since all that matters is that the other teams Guildlord dies first.

EvIL brings a build that is designed to run the other team around in circles using six teleporting characters, but has terrible healing. Playing into your opponent's hands is retarded. They didn't want a slugfest, so we forced one down their throats.

If making your opponent play your game and exploiting the holes in their strategy to win makes me lacking in skill, I'll wear that badge with pride.

Peace,

COngrats to IQ. I love watching both guilds play, and yes someone had to win, so oh well.

Evil barely changed their tactics at all after losing the second game. They knew what was coming and did not adjust, and therefore lost again. Shame on who if they beat you twice the same way? They knew they'd be facing two blindbots, they knew one would nuke the NPC's at the end. It worked so well in the second game (and the 2nd game of the quarterfinals) why would they not run it again? But Evil didn't do anything to counter it, instead they continued to rely on melee for offense. IQ wasn't cheap; Evil was stubborn.

All the matches were excellent today. I was cheering out loud for Te, and they pulled it off. Argh, 5 N/Mo's spamming Aegis AND 2 Rits? It takes some serious heart to beat that with balanced, but they did it.

Can't wait for more action tomorrow!

How they love their assassins and monk/assassins...this love was their downfall.

This is the definition of what one wants to do in any strategy game to win. Inflexibility gets punished in tournament scenarios. Congrats to iQ and good luck in the finals.

iQ is my new favorite guild. not to start a flamefest, but they way evil was playing was pretty scrub. Not playing the game their way is a pretty much auto win, and I guess this means the iQ memberslive up to their tag.

EvIL has always shown strong adaptability in tournament environments up until this point. I honestly expect this loss will further motivate them with a new tenacity in future seasons and tournaments.

I forgive iQ wasting 30 mins of my time seeing them camping at the GL from the start of the match, those last mins were brilliant, nice move!

I think iQ is the team that should have won since their tactics were obviously better in this semi-final.

Congrats on making it to the final, and good luck winning it ofcourse, you got my blessings:-)

Hmmm, I don't really think that iQ was any better. But they also knew it. No way to win EviL at the center, their movement is just so much better. So lets wait for VoD and force them to 8v8 at the stand.

But EviL made e huge misstake while they didnt alter their build (besides to r-->me). They cuold have chanced one of the mo/a's to normal boon and took one warrior for one sin. So it cuold have been won pretty easyle, but still they didn't even try...

Get used to the tactic of good teams manhandling NPCs in matches in which they would clearly be overpowered otherwise. EvIL has been doing in forever, and basically any build with assassins and teleporting is built on the concept of not fighting "straight up".

EvIL has always been enjoyable to watch for the fact that they overpower teams with skilled play, realizing that offense wins more often than a team that stacks up on defense. They use strong individual builds and put themselves in position for key players to make "big plays". They also have exceptional aggressive play to make you pay for picking on their monks. This time, they let up when they had a team pressed against the ropes, and I'm sure it was because they were too overconfident in their ability to handle whatever iQ had prepared for Victory or Death.

Considering that most gvg matches go into VoD, I would say that iQ was just more prepared for the inevitable. There were plenty of things that EvIL could have done in game 3 after seeing iQ's build. Bring a Rit for extra healing and damage, switch their monks' build, or... the biggest flaw I saw, simply be more aggressive in iQ's base. Honestly... when you have uncontested morale boosts and an enemy that's too afraid to come out of their base when you die, you have to do more than run in and attack once every five minutes. They could have easily pulled off some major damage to take out iQ's npcs and inflict a dp.

If the game allows it, which with more skills and more classes, it probably won't.

This shows pretty clearly what a complete crap heap Factions is.

...and how awesome IQ are, of course. GG!
